The Digital Landscape

Today's youth are growing up in a dynamic digital world — surrounded by many social media platforms, online gaming, and an endless stream of information. At the Digital Youth Project (DJP), we are dedicated to uncovering the deeper layers of this digital environment, in order to understand how it relates to their mental health, social context, and well-being.

Our Research Approach

We seek to answer critical questions:

  • How can teenagers use digital media to connect with others and express themselves in a healthy way?

  • What role does digital media use have for adolescents with existing mental health challenges?

  • How can we promote a healthier relationship with digital media while supporting emotional and psychological resilience?

Methodology

Our research draws on a combination of surveys, interviews, cognitive tasks, and advanced data analysis. We also use Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM) to capture teenagers' experiences in real time. By collaborating closely with adolescents, parents, teachers, and experts, we aim to build a holistic understanding of the opportunities and challenges presented by today's digital landscape. Through this multifaceted approach, we strive to contribute valuable insights into adolescent development in a rapidly evolving world.

Let's work together

We are actively seeking collaborations with schools, clinics, and other organizations. If you are interested in working with us, or would like to learn more about partnership opportunities, please get in touch. Together, we can advance important insights that make a real difference for youth today.
